چکیده

The nite di erence method is a numerical analysis technique used to solve problems involving irregular geometries, complicated boundary conditions, or both. The geometries are represented using partial di erential equations. The solutions to the partial di erential equations can be easily generated with the aid of a computer. As the geometries become increasingly complex, the solutions of the partial di erential equations become computationally more intensive. Con gurable computing machines are an emerging class of computing platform which are characterized by providing the computational performance of application speci c processors, yet retaining the exibility and rapid recon gurability attributed to general-purpose processors over a diversity of tasks. Structural modeling of underwater vehicles relies upon analysis involving complex boundary conditions. The nite di erence method can be used to perform heat and shock analysis on the vehicles. This paper presents an implementation and performance gures for a speci c domain of the nite di erence method { a two-dimensional heat transfer modeling system using a Splash-2 Con gurable Computing Machine (CCM).

Orr Sommerfeld Solver Using Mapped Finite Di?erence Scheme for Plane Wake Flow

Linear stability analysis of the three dimensional plane wake flow is performed using a mapped finite di?erence scheme in a domain which is doubly infinite in the cross–stream direction of wake flow. The physical domain in cross–stream direction is mapped to the computational domain using a cotangent mapping of the form y = ?cot(??). The Squire transformation [2], proposed by Squire, is also us...

Finite Di erence and Spectral Models for Numerical Weather Forecasting on a Massively Parallel Computer

A computationally intensive part in a model for numerical weather forecasting solves a set of partial di erential equations. There are several techniques to obtain this solution numerically. In this paper we will discuss the implementation of a numerical weather forecasting model on a massively parallel architecture using two techniques: a nite di erence (gridpoint) method and a spectral method...

A Scaleable FIR Filter Implementation Using 32-bit Floating- Point Complex Arithmetic on a FPGA Based Custom Computing Platform

This thesis presents a linear phase finite impulse response filter implementation developed on a custom computing platform called WILDFORCE. The work has been motivated by ways to off-load intensive computing tasks to hardware for indoor communications channel modeling. The design entails complex convolution filters with customized lengths that can support channel impulse response profiles gene...
